Rec. Week is mandatory for all coaches and teams. This training is specifically designed to provide guidance and direction from the competitive coaching staff to the recreational coaches, based on Lightning’s philosophy of player development. It is a valuable coaching resource for our recreational coaches. Rec. Week is the first official week of practices for teams. Coaches should come prepared with a lesson plan, cones, balls and bibs for each practice, using coaching techniques and drills included in the Lightning Coaching Curriculum.
Monday, August 30 Team practices begin for Divisions 5, 6, 7
Saturday, September 11 – First Games for All Divisions
Sunday, September 12 – Opening Day and Pictures at Poinsettia Park
Teams, coaches and parents attend Lightning’s Opening Day for several hours of fun. Team pictures will be taken so all teams must attend wearing their uniforms (red or white jerseys, team’s choice), and all coaches must wear their Lightning coaching jersey.
Sunday, October 17 – All-Star Nominations Due
All-star nominations for Divisions 4, 5, and 6 are due no later than Sunday, October 17th. This year NO nominations will be accepted after this date because of the amount of time it takes to prepare for tryouts.
Sunday, October 31 - Recreational All-Star Tryouts for Divisions 4, 5 and 6
Players must be in attendance to be eligible for selection to an All Star Team. Times and locations are TBA.
November 13 and 14 - Recreational Championship Saturday and Sunday Aviara Community Park
