The mission of Carlsbad Lightning Soccer is to provide all children an opportunity to play soccer according to their abilities. The Challenger program affords our special needs children the opportunity to actively participate in a high quality soccer program. We support this program financially through the time commitment of dedicated volunteers, including youth players from the competitive programs, as well as financially through our scholarship fund.

The Challenger program is specifically designed for special needs children between the ages of 5 to 18. Our program is associated with the CYSA TOPSoccer program. The goals of the TOPSoccer program are to

• Promote a non-competitive, supportive teaching environment
• Highlight player’s ability rather than their disability
• Insure players have a meaningful experience
• Allow players to achieve their desired goals without assistance
• To have FUN!

Through the Challenger program Lightning Soccer promotes a non-competitive, supportive teaching environment.

The Challenger season runs between September through November with applications due by early summer. Fees for the program are $50 and include CYSA-S registration, a uniform, up to 11 games and an end of year party.
